Chemistry, Math

I graduated from CU Denver with a B.S. in chemistry with an emphasis in biochemistry. I have 3 years of tutoring experience and have previously taught Algebra I, Statistics, and Organic Chemistry Lab. I also have extensive immunology research experience. Seeing a student's face light up and watching them independently solve a problem are one of the many reasons that I enjoy tutoring.

Math, Physics

I have recently obtained a BA in Physics at the University of Colorado Boulder, with plans to continue on to a PhD in the future. I have been tutoring for a little over four years now in the areas of math and physics, three of which have been for CU Boulder. I love to help students gain a new appreciation for these subjects, allowing them to gain a new understanding of the importance of what they are learning. Seeing the sudden moment of understanding, along with a new sense of wonder, is what drives my love for teaching.

I am currently a senior astrophysics major at CU Boulder. I have experience tutoring students in mathematics through calculus and differential equations, in addition to high school and college-level mechanical physics. What motivates me to be the best tutor I can is my genuine interest in a student's success; I love seeing that light bulb go off in a student's head when they begin to understand a difficult concept.

Business, Finance

I am a recent Finance graduate of Metro State University of Denver with a passion for learning. Heading into my sophomore year at MSU (Aug. 2016) I decided to become a tutor. Since then I have grown my skill set and have discovered a new passion for learning. Tutoring isn’t just a job for me, it’s getting individuals excited about the topic they are learning. Finance is dry for non-finance students and I want to ensure those students see the value in understanding financial concepts. My goal is for students to connect the dots and have a lasting “aha!” moment. You know what they say, if you see value in it, you will succeed.

Biology

I'm a Colorado native, and I graduated from Colorado State University in 2015 with a BS in Human Development and Family Studies. In 2017, I completed a Masters of Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University. During my time at A&M, I took many specialized physiology courses, was a TA for undergraduate anatomy, and participated in a cadaver dissection- biology, physiology, and anatomy are my favorite things learn about. The human body absolutely fascinates me, and I can't wait to help you understand just how amazing it is! I currently work for Kaiser Permanente as a lab assistant, and my ultimate goal is to teach full time at the collegiate level. In my spare time, I like to hike, read, crochet, and snuggle with my cat, Minerva.

Biology

I am a graduate from Red Rocks Community College with an Associate of Science and Metropolitan State University of Denver with a Bachelors Degree in Biology of Science. Biology is amazing because we see life around us all the time and it definitely deserves a closer look. Learning about it is fun because it's easily applicable to our lives. However, I believe that there isn't one way to learn something; everyone has a different approach and I take it very seriously to find each of my student's particular approach to learning. I tutored college-level biology and worked as a Teacher's Assistant for a year at Red Rocks Community College, and am currently a Laboratory Technician for a private water consulting company. I look forward to helping my students see the real world application of what they're learning in class.

Statistics

I have over a decade of experience as a Research and Development Scientist and recently graduated with a Master of Science in Chemistry as well as a Master of Science in Environmental Science from Indiana University. As a graduate student, I had the opportunity to be an Associate Instructor for Freshman Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry laboratory and Energy Economics. Each semester I asked the students to step back from the symbolism of the mathematics and seek to understand the reasoning behind the symbolism. I enjoyed these roles immensely, particularly the challenge of conveying insights from science and economics in an explicit and clear manner so that students felt comfortable utilizing these insights to perform calculations and predict outcomes. Education, for me, is about gaining powerful, problem-solving insights and forming connections between seemingly disparate facts. Working with students to uncover these insights and make powerful connection is both gratifying and incredibly important from a social perspective. I do not believe it is the responsibility of the student to “figure it out”. I believe it is my responsibility as an educator to make these insights as clear, reasonable and digestible as possible.

I recently moved to Denver and cannot wait to get started. My interests are traveling, hiking, and spending time with family; I have six precious grandchildren.

Computer Science

I'm a professional Software Engineer with 10 years of full-time industry experience. I've been tutoring students in some way, shape, or form since I graduated high school. After earning my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Virginia Tech, I jumped in to the software engineering industry and had a blast working on all sorts of different projects over the years! I'm a huge advocate of "Lifelong Learning", and now I want to help students by any means I can. The best part of tutoring for me is seeing students grow not only academically, but also as an individual. Providing students with the knowledge to be successful in the world is something I strive for every day.

Math, Statistics

I am a federal statistician who never learned to stop learning continually, earning masters in cyber-security and statistics, bachelors in business and numerical analysis, and a certificate in infrared technology just so I could play with lasers. I have tutored mathematics to anyone who asked since I was eight and quickly discovered that intangible symbiosis of a student and teacher growing their understanding of a subject simultaneously – obviously a self-feeding cycle that ingrains itself insidiously. I smack little blue balls just to make a point, sing barbershop badly, checkmate with a pawn, and divide by zero with impunity. My goal is to be devoid of all normality whatsoever (not easy for a stats geek), and I will do my best to help you reach yours. So, maybe we can brighten each other’s day!
